It is no wonder Maternity Portraiture is really popular these days as women have a special beauty and bloom when they are expecting a child. The best time to capture that “bloom” is usually in the 7th to 8th month. We are doing a series of maternity portraits this month for our portfolio. My goal is to have 12 for our portfolio before the end of the month. Did I just write that? Twelve? Only nine more to go. We like to taking images of the mother alone, with her husband or significant other, and with other children in the family. If you “google” images using matenity portraits you can see a wide variety of approaches. Our style is somewhat conservative. Showing the pregnant belly is okay and a relationship between the folks in the picture, but we shy away from portraits that convey a lot of intimacy and we do not do scantly clad or nude images, just in case you were wondering. Here’s a card I made of my “favorite” client, our daughter Julie, with her husband. Please note, too, that we do not post photographs to the blog unless we have permission of our clients and then, we do not give out personal information beyond what is discussed with the client. Most agree to first names and we would advise against using last names anyway.

These are some of the poses that were done by Ruth at a park. Our son-in-law is not crazy about having pictures taken, but Julie conveyed to him how much they would want to have these later and enjoy them. He really worked with me during me in the photography session and made suggestions of what he would like after viewing samples. When the previews were ready, both of them were thrilled and happy they had pictures taken of them together. A number of their friends and relatives have said how much they wish they had pictures like this made during this special time in their lives. Here are some more photographs from the session.
